Sorry, More Sports

Sunday Cleveland blew a 13 point fourth quarter lead to the dispised Baltimore Ravens. Old school Browns fans would say that Pittsburgh is the main rival of the Dawgs, but I think Baltimore should be more hated. Back in the day, Browns owner Art Modell ripped the Browns team out of Cleveland and moved them to Baltimore. Hence, the Ravens were born. I feel that every win over Baltimore is a mighty 'Fuck you Art!' Anyway, the Ravens took the lead at the end of the fourth quarter. Flashes of last week and Cleveland blowing a lead to Pittsburgh went through my head. This time, with three seconds left, Phil Dawson's 51 yard field goal attempt bounced off of the upright, bounced off of the goal post support, and out onto the field. It was called a no good kick, but when they realized that the ball hit the back of the support post (it had gone though and bounced back) it was then called a good kick. The fans had left, the Ravens had left, only the Browns were hanging around until the correct call was made. The game went to OT and the Browns won. We may be looking at a Wild Card team here.

In the BCS:

Two of the six teams above OSU lost this past week. Although the Rose Bowl is a great trip for the Buckeyes and they will play a top ranked opponent, the National Title is not out of the question:

1. LSU 10-1 - Plays a good Arkansas team and then the SEC conference championship game.
2. Kansas 11-0 - Plays #4 Missouri and possibly the Big 12 conference championship game.
3. West Virginia 9-1 - Plays #20 UConn and Pittsburgh
4. Missouri 10-1 - Plays #2 Kansas and possibly the Big 12 title game.
5. Ohio State 11-1 - Done until the Bowl Game

There you go. While unlikely that the Buckeyes will go to New Orleans for the National Title game, it is possible. At least one of the teams above OSU is going to lose. I will watch these upcoming games, hoping for the best, but still completely satisfied with a Rose Bowl game. Ohio State will likely face USC, Oregon, or Arizona State. Probably ASU, who they faced in the 1997 Rose Bowl ( I was there).
